How to protect our jewelry from tarnishing?

1. Store your jewelry properly
To prevent tarnishing, store your jewelry in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Moisture and high temperatures accelerate the tarnishing process, so avoid leaving jewelry in the bathroom or in places with high humidity. To protect them from scratches and tangling, it's best to store them separately in a box with dividers or a soft pouch.
2. Remove jewelry before physical activity
Physical activity and contact with aggressive chemicals can affect the appearance of your jewelry. For example, chlorine in the pool, cleaning products, as well as perfumes and lotions can cause tarnishing. That's why it's a good idea to remove your jewelry before exercise, swimming or cleaning the house. This will prevent unwanted tarnishing and preserve their shine.
3. Clean your jewelry regularly
Regular cleaning is an important part of keeping your jewelry in perfect condition.
For stainless steel jewelry:
- Prepare a solution of warm water and a drop of dish soap.
- Clean with a soft jewelry brush.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Wipe with a microfiber cloth.
For more stubborn dirt, you can use baking soda and water. Apply it with a soft cloth, avoid vigorous rubbing and rinse immediately.
For 925 silver:
- Use a special silver cleaner or make a homemade solution with 1:3 baking soda and water. Add a few drops of lemon juice.
- Apply with a soft cloth (not a brush!).
- Rinse quickly and dry.
